Well, I never! Totally shocked! How did this happen?! Something has to be done! If you’re wondering what the above is about, well, it’s me in disbelief after I went through my summer wardrobe this week & came to the realisation that most of my gear from last year no longer has a generous gap around my top or middle…!
With the winter that we had here in Michigan, I was eating more than I should just to bloody well stay warm! Cups of tea with a slice of cake, apple crumble with custard, cookies with my coffee, fried chicken, rice, just mentioning this makes me feel hungry, the list of food goes on & on.
Unlike my native London, there are far too many fast food restaurants to choose from here that it’s so easy to say ‘I’m not cooking tonight, let’s eat out.’ Everywhere we go, there are food places beckoning me to step inside & sample their delights, you can’t go 2 metres without seeing them unless you walk around blindfolded, & that’s certainly not an option.
So, after getting on the scales, to my dismay I realized that I had put on quite a few pounds, it was so gradual that I hadn’t even noticed. I told my husband how much I weighed; he stood there looking at me in denial. He either didn’t notice it or was just being polite, charming! It’s a joke how the weight just creeps up on you.
I dug out my bike, grabbed some workout clothes from our inventory (the yoga pants actually fit, albeit a little tight on the bum) & made it my mission to lose weight. Hubby reckons he can lose a few pounds around his middle too, so we’re going on this weight loss journey together. It’s not easy taking exercise every day & eating healthy, particularly in the evening when all you want to do is sit on the sofa & binge-watch a Netflix series eating a calorie-laden meal you enjoy & then a nice stodgy dessert, which is my weakness by the way…
